K-Factor
Lincoln Center is excited to present K-Factor, an orchestral concert exploring the radical innovations in Korean popular music over the past century.
I was tasked to come up with a logo for this event that utilizes orchestra to explore the rise and roots of K-Pop beginning with music from the 1930s and tracing it through modern day K-Pop. Similar to the Yeethoven event in 2018, the Young Patrons group at Lincoln Center will bring K-Pop to the Lincoln Center campus with a combined K-Pop artist x Orchestra performance event.
Idea: Inspired by the lively spirit of South Koreans and the vibrant neon signs from the streets of Seoul, I wanted to use the perfect geometric shapes of Hanguel (Korean characters) to create this logo. The elegant lines and the merging of the shapes in the middle represents smooth transition between one music genre to another, and the two cultures coming together to be one.
This project meant a lot to me, because putting Korean characters on the face of one of the highly recognized musical centers in the world was breaking culture barriers, one design at a time.
Role: Logo creation, branding, concept, oversee designers and present to internal/external teams.
